Society for Name Studies in Britain and Ireland: Nomina The society’s journal Nomina (ISSN 0141 6340) is published annually. All submissions are subject to a rigorous and anonymous peer review process. The editor for volumes 38–41 is David Parsons, and the editors from volume 42 are Eleanor Rye and Paul Tempan. The editorial board consists of John Baker, Jayne Carroll, Alison Grant, Carole Hough, Peter McClure, Kay Muhr, Oliver Padel, and Maggie Scott. Instructions for submissions are in the Nomina style-sheet. Items for inclusion in the annual Nomina bibliographies may be sent to biblio@snsbi.org.uk. Below is the table of contents for all issues. The same data is available as a fully typeset pdf file, the latter sorted by author. Most papers are available for free download as pdf files  —  look for the “pdf” indication on the left-hand side of this webpage, before the page number. In some cases reviews and other back-matter are lumped together in one file  —  look at the pdf filename to identify these. The two most recent annual volumes are excluded from this free offering.

SNSBI Autumn meeting 2026

The 2026 SNSBI autumn meeting will beheld on Saturday 14 November.

It will be online and in-person at the University of Sheffield.  Attendees will be invited to a post-meeting meal to be organised closer to the date of the meeting.

The venue

The meeting will place in The Diamond at the University of Sheffield.  The address is: 32 Leavygreave Road, Sheffield, S3 7RD. The meeting room is located on the ground floor of the building and is fully accessible.

Getting to the venue

Train

The venue is handily located in Sheffield City Centre. It is a 20-minute walk from Sheffield Train Station and Sheffield Transport Interchange, or a short taxi ride.

Tram

You can also reach The Diamond via trams which depart from Sheffield Train Station and the City Centre. Both the blue route yellow route trams stop at West Street and University of Sheffield stops, which are a few minutes’ walk from The Diamond.

Car

There are limited on-street parking spaces in the vicinity of venue. You can find out more about the locations and prices via the Sheffield City Council website. However, there a several multi-storey car parks in Sheffield City Centre which are within easy walking distance. The closest is the Rockingham Street Q-Park. Others include:
