Recent Events.
The 2008 annual Easter conference was held at Pollock Halls, Edinburgh from 4th to 7th April 2008. To see further details of the programme, please click here.
On 3rd November 2007, a one-day meeting was held at Manchester. (Note: Some of the papers given at the Mary Higham memorial meeting were repeated.) (click here for details.)
The 2007 Spring Conference was held at St Patricks College, Drumcondra, Dublin from Saturday 31st March to Tuesday 3rd April 2007 - click here for details.
A one-day meeting in memory of Dr Mary Higham was held on 3rd February 2007 at the University of Lancaster - (click here for details .)
The 2006 Spring Conference was held at Bristol from 7th to 10 April 2006. Click here for details of the programme and pictures of the outing to Congresbury church and Glastonbury Abbey.
For the 2005 Autumn meeting, the SNSBI joined with EPNS for a meeting in memory of Victor Watts held on 17th September 2005 at Grey College, Durham. For further details, see the Durham meeting.
The 2005 SNSBI Spring conference was held at Swansea from Saturday 2nd April until Tuesday 5th April 2005. Those who attended enjoyed a wide variety of papers and an outing to the Vale of Towy. For details, see Swansea Conference.
The 2004 autumn meeting was cancelled.
The 2004 SNSBI Spring conference was held in Peterhouse College, Cambridge from Friday 26th April to Monday 29th April 2004. Those who attended enjoyed an interesting programme of lectures as well as an outing to Sutton Hoo. For more details, see Cambridge Conference.
In 2003, the SNSBI Autumn meeting was held at Nottingham on Saturday 15th November 2003. For more details, see Adventures in Hydronomy.
The 2003 SNSBI Spring conference was held in Shetland from 4th to 8th April 2003, in association with the Scottish Place-Names Society and NORNA (the society for name studies in Scandinavia) and the theme was "Cultural Contacts in the North Atlantic Region".
