Society for Name Studies in Britain and Ireland (SNSBI)

General Queries.

Many questions on place names, personal names and surnames can be answered by looking at the information provided in the "standard" reference books. A list of these will be produced in due course. If these sources, or the relevant linked web sites, do not seem to supply an answer, the Society will try to help. It can only, however, deal with very specific queries and these should be sent, in writing only, to:-
Miss J. Scherr, Hon. Sec. SNSBI
c/o Medical Library, School of Medical Science,
Unversity of Bristol,
University Walk, BRISTOL BS8 1TD.

She will pass them on to members who may be able to help. The Society cannot guarantee a rapid response.
